Sean Taylor
Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager
Sean Taylor is Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager at Matthews. As Chief Investment Officer, Sean oversees the firm’s investment process and investment professionals and sets the research agenda for the investment team. Prior to joining the firm in October 2023, he was Chief Investment Officer APAC, Global Head of Emerging Markets Equity at DWS Group based in Hong Kong since he joined the company in 2013. From 2004 to 2011, he was an Investment Director at GAM, based in London and Dubai. From 1997 to 2004, he was at Societe Generale as Head of International and Emerging Markets. Sean has 30 years of experience, including more than a decade as CIO. He oversaw a number of emerging markets active strategies, including Latin America, India, China, Brazil, Russia as well as international and global strategies. He received his MBA from Manchester Business School and is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.
Sean has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews Emerging Markets Equity Fund, Matthews Emerging Markets Equity Active ETF and Matthews Emerging Markets ex China Active ETF since 2023, and of the Matthews Emerging Markets Sustainable Future Fund and Matthews Emerging Markets Sustainable Future Active ETF since 2026, and of the Matthews Asia Dividend Fund and Matthews Asia Dividend Active ETF since 2025.
Mark W. Headley
Executive Chairman and Portfolio Manager
Mark W. Headley is Executive Chairman and Portfolio Manager at Matthews and rejoined the firm in April 2025. He first joined Matthews in April 1995 as Managing Director and senior analyst on the investment team. In 1999, Mark became President of Matthews and between 2002 and 2009, held both CEO and Co-CEO roles and between 2007 and 2009, he was also CIO. Throughout his time at the firm, Mark was a Portfolio Manager, which included the Matthews Pacific Tiger Fund, Matthews Korea Fund, Matthews China Fund, Matthews Japan Fund and the Matthews Asia Innovators Fund. Prior to joining Matthews, Mark held several key positions from 1989-1992 including with Newport Pacific Management and Newport Distributors, Inc. where he was an original member of the team that launched the first SEC-registered open-end Asia (ex-Japan) fund, the Newport Tiger Fund. Mark has appeared frequently in broadcast media, been widely quoted in major financial publications and participated in panel discussions at conferences of major financial institutions. He holds a B.A. in Economics and Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Mark has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews Pacific Tiger Fund since 2026, and of the Matthews Pacific Tiger Active ETF since 2026.
Kary Cheng
Research Analyst
Kary Cheng is a Research Analyst at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2022, Kary was a Senior Consultant of Climate and Sustainability at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Hong Kong, where she provided ESG advisory services for financial institutions, listed and private corporates, and governmental organizations in Asia-Pacific Region in areas such as ESG strategy, stakeholder engagement and materiality assessment, data management, targets setting, reporting, sustainability ratings and indices, climate risk management and disclosure. From 2019 to 2021, Kary was at Ernst & Young Hong Kong, most recently as a Senior Consultant in Climate Change and Sustainability Services. She received her Bachelor of Integrated Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. In addition, Kary is a Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA®) from the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) and a holder of Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR®) Certificate from Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). She is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
Kerry Cheng
Research Analyst
Kerry Cheng is a Research Analyst at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2026, Kerry was Research Analyst at Artisan Partners conducting fundamental research, primarily focusing on new energy and industrial companies. From 2018 to 2022, she was an Analyst at Macquarie Capital covering the renewable energy sector, including solar, wind, hydro and nuclear stocks. From 2015 to 2018, Kerry worked in various roles at Shanghai Elegant Investment including as an equity research analyst covering media, property, social services and transportation, and as an equity trader covering two primary products. She began her career as an institutional sales research assistant at Sinolink Securities Ltd. Kerry received a Bachelor degree in Finance and Economics from South-Western University of Finance and Economics, and a Bachelor degree in banking and finance from the University of Birmingham. She also holds a Master degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Cambridge. Kerry is fluent in Mandarin.
Kathlyn Collins, CAIA
VP, Head of Responsible Investment Stewardship, and Portfolio Manager
Kathlyn Collins is a VP, Head of Responsible Investing and Stewardship, and Portfolio Manager at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Kathlyn worked as an ESG & Global Strategy Analyst with Cartica Management LLC where she developed ESG integration and analyzed investments for portfolios, conducted company research and engagement, and wrote reports relating to Emerging Markets. She earned an M.A. in International Relations and International Economics from John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and an M.A. in Italian Studies from Middlebury College in Florence, Italy. Kathlyn has a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism, Italian Language, Literature & Culture from Syracuse University. She has been part of the faculty for the International Corporate Governance Network’s (ICGN) ESG integration course and is a Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) credential holder. She is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and speaks Italian and Spanish.

Donghoon Han
Portfolio Manager
Donghoon Han is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. Prior to joining Matthews in 2020, Donghoon was Vice President and portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in Tokyo, responsible for investments in technology, automotive and transportation sectors in Japan. From 2014 to 2016, he was a senior associate at Citadel Global Equities researching technology and industrial sectors in Japan. From 2010 to 2014, Donghoon worked at Dodge & Cox as an equity research associate covering global technology sector with a focus on semiconductors and electronic components. He received B.A. in International Liberal Arts from Waseda University in Tokyo. Donghoon is fluent in Japanese and Korean. He is a Chartered Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan.
Donghoon has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews Japan Fund since 2023, and of the Matthews Japan Active ETF since 2023.
Tiffany Hsiao, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Tiffany Hsiao is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. She originally joined Matthews in April 2014 and departed in August 2020 to launch a China-focused private fund at Artisan Partners. Prior to her departure, Tiffany managed the firm’s China Small Companies, former Asia Small Companies (now Emerging Markets Small Companies) and Asia Innovators strategies. Previously, she was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs Investment Partners in Hong Kong and Tokyo from 2007 to 2013, responsible for Asia Pacific investments with an emphasis on equities in China. Previous to this, she spent six years at Franklin Templeton Investments, where she managed the firm’s global communications fund. Tiffany earned her Master of Science and Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and received a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. She is fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese, and conversational in Cantonese.
Tiffany has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews Asia Innovators Fund since 2025, of the Matthews Asia Innovators Active ETF since 2025, of the Matthews China Small Companies Fund since 2025, of the Matthews China Discovery Active ETF since 2025, and of the Matthews Asia Growth Fund since 2026.
Cecilia Lau
Portfolio Manager
Cecilia Lau is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2024, she was an Equity Research Analyst, Portfolio Management at DWS Group specializing in long-only, active global markets equities with a focus on ASEAN and ESG coverage. She also developed quantitative and risk tools to deepen risk analytics and enhance portfolio returns. Cecilia received her Bachelor of Science degree in Risk Management and Business Intelligence from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
Andrew Mattock, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Andrew Mattock is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2015, he was a Fund Manager at Henderson Global Investors for 15 years, first in London and then in Singapore, managing Asia Pacific equities. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting from ACU. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Andrew has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews China Fund since 2015, of the Matthews Pacific Tiger Fund since 2022, of the Matthews China Active ETF since 2022, and of the Matthews Pacific Tiger Active ETF since 2023.
Peeyush Mittal, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Peeyush Mittal is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2015, he spent over three years at Franklin Templeton Asset Management India, most recently as a Senior Research Analyst. Previously, he was with Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management New York, from 2009 to 2011, researching U.S. and European stocks in the industrials and materials sectors. Peeyush began his career in 2003 with Scot Forge as an Industrial Engineer, and was responsible for implementing Lean Manufacturing systems on the production shop floor. Peeyush earned his M.B.A from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He received a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from The Ohio State University and received a Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering from The Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He is fluent in Hindi.
Peeyush has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews India Fund since 2018, and Matthews India Active ETF since 2023.
Sojung Park
Portfolio Manager
Sojung Park is a Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, she earned an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. From 2010 to 2013, Sojung worked as an Equity Research Analyst at HSBC Securities as primary analyst for mid-cap companies in the Korean financial services sector, and from 2009 to 2010, was an Equity Research Associate at E*Trade Securities. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Seoul National University and is fluent in Korean.
Sojung has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews Korea Active ETF since 2023, of the Matthews Asia Dividend Fund and Matthews Asia Dividend Active ETF since 2025.
Jeremy Sutch, CFA
Portfolio Manager
Jeremy Sutch is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2015, he was Director and Global Head of Emerging Companies at Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong from 2012 to 2015, responsible for the fundamental analysis of companies in Asia, with a particular focus on small- and mid-capitalization companies. From 2009 to 2012, he was Managing Director at MJP Capital in Hong Kong, which he co-founded. His prior experience has included managing small-cap equities at Indus Capital Advisors and serving as Head of Hong Kong Research for ABN AMRO Asia Securities. Jeremy earned an M.A. in French and History from the University of Edinburgh.
Jeremy Sutch has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews Emerging Markets Small Companies Fund since 2021, of the Matthews Emerging Markets Equity Fund since 2023, of the Matthews Emerging Markets Equity Active ETF since 2023, of the Matthews Emerging Markets ex China Active ETF since 2023, and of the Matthews Emerging Markets Discovery Active ETF since 2024.
Shuntaro Takeuchi
Portfolio Manager
Shuntaro Takeuchi is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2016, he was an Executive Director for Japan Equity Sales at UBS Securities LLC in New York. Beginning in 2003, he worked on both Japanese Equity and International Equity Sales at UBS Japan Securities, based in Tokyo, and held the position of Special Situations Analyst from 2006 to 2008, and Head of International Equity Sales from 2009 to 2013. Before that, he worked at Merrill Lynch Japan from 2001 to 2003 in U.S. Equity Sales. Shuntaro received a B.A. in Commerce and Management from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. He is fluent in Japanese.

Vivek Tanneeru
Portfolio Manager
Vivek Tanneeru is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2011, Vivek was an Investment Manager on the Global Emerging Markets team of Pictet Asset Management in London. While at Pictet, he also worked on the firm’s Global Equities team, managing Japan and Asia ex-Japan markets. Before earning his MBA from the London Business School in 2006, Vivek was a Business Systems Officer at The World Bank and served as a Consultant at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and Citicorp Infotech Industries. He interned at Generation Investment Management while studying for his MBA Vivek received his Master’s in Finance from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science in India. He is fluent in Hindi and Telugu.

Yige (Nina) Zhang
Research Analyst
Yige (Nina) Zhang is a Research Analyst at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2026, Nina was a Research Analyst at Artisan Partner conducting fundamental research as a sector specialist covering consumer, internet and logistics companies from 2020 - 2025. Previously she interned at CICC Capital Management Generation Fund where she assisted with company research of advanced manufacturing, medical treatment and consumption companies. Before that, she was an intern with Heyi Capital where she conducted company analysis of content consumption, education and recruitment start-ups. Nina received a Master in Corporate Finance as well as a Bachelor in Economic and Finance degrees from Tsinghua University, School of Economics and Management. She is fluent in Mandarin.
Wenlin Zhao
Research Analyst
Wenlin Zhao is a Research Analyst at Matthews. Prior to joining the firm in 2022, Wenlin was a Senior ESG Research Analyst at CRISIL Limited where she collaborated with the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment team to prepare databases and complete questionnaires for ESG indices and DJSI companies to complete the corporate rating process. She also conducted quality control analysis of appraisal analysts’ work. She began her career at Matthews as ESG Research Associate intern in 2019 and contractor in 2020 focused on tracking, analyzing and capturing the firm’s research and engagement efforts. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Japanese from Dailian University of Foreign Language, Masters of Science in Business Management from Ritsumeikan University and Masters of International Affairs from University of California San Diego. Wenlin is SASB Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) Credential Holder and is fluent in Japanese and Mandarin.
